Iowa City Press-Citizen Fails To Properly Cover Loebsack/Rangel Story
IOWA CITY -- Leave it to a liberal publication to overlook bad news pertaining to their preferred political candidate.
Congressman Dave Loebsack has recently come under fire for taking a $5,000 donation from Congressman Charles Rangel (D-NY), who is under investigation for ethics violations. Rangel, who chairs the House Ways and Means Committee, is at the helm of writing the country's tax laws. Rangel is under investigation for using a rent-subsidized apartment as a fund raising office, failing to pay taxes on at least $75,000 of rental income from a Caribbean villa he owns and using his House stationery to solicit contributions to a City University of New York school to be named in his honor.
With the ethics violations news going public, Loebsack suddenly couldn't write checks fast enough in redirecting the Rangel money. Loebsack gave $1,000 each to the chambers of commerce in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, and to three non-profit groups.
So why isn't the PC covering this story?
Do a Google search for Loebsack + Rangel, no search results come up for a Press-Citizen story of that topic. Do a search on the Press-Citizen site, 'Loebsack' and nothing Rangel related comes up.
It seems the Iowa City Press-Citizen, "The" local paper, does not want its readers to see this story. Are they protecting their chosen candidate by omission? We're talking about the person that represents the Second Congressional District in Iowa, we're talking about a story voters need to know about, and the liberal Press-Citizen is choosing not to perform its journalistic obligation by covering a NEWS story?
This story has some depth to it, and the PC is completely ignoring it. Voters should know for example that Do Nothing Dave Loebsack voted against investigating Rangel. Whether the PC likes it or not, that's news.
A real news outfit covers the political good news AND the bad, despite candidate preference. The PC has once again failed its readers.

Why is it this doesn't surprise me about slippery Dave?
His hand is out ALL of the time for the easy (read PAC) money. If he would accept PAC $'s before he was sworn into office, why wouldn't he take a good ol' boy's money?
The PC's so very liberal bias is the reason we quit subscribing to it.
