Money the county has on hand in its trails fund: $427,000 (Did you know the county has taken that much taxpayer money - your money - for trails?)
Budget shortfall: $43,000
This isn't the only trails project on the books folks, and you have been giving the county your hard-earned money for trails since fiscal year 2008. Did you know you so much money was being dedicated to trails and at the sacrifice of true needs? Meanwhile, they raise your taxes for pay raises and government land grabs! Isn't that nice?
Instead of making some real budget cuts during lean economic times and dwindling pools of state/federal funding due to fiscal mismanagement, county officials have identified the Dubuque Street Trail as the county’s No. 1 priority for trails projects. Apparently they'll tax you even more to get it done by this fall.
Damn the true needs, we want that bike trail!
