Nope.
They're doing exactly what I predicted they would be doing - hibernating. It wasn't a tough prediction, it's their habit.
You haven't heard boo from the JCRCC since the November election.
Are they issuing a stance objecting to proposed tax hikes in local communities?
Nope.
Did they take a stand against the illegitimate city land deal in North Liberty?
Nope.
Are they speaking out against proposed city budget increases, bringing the public's attention to wants vs. needs spending?
Nope.
Did they issue a statement on the Arizona shooting tragedy, countering the local liberal nonsense spewed in the Iowa City Depressed-Citizen?
Nope.
As a group, are they taking a stand against the proposed rail service for Iowa City, an issue clearly indicative of GOP ideals which is to address the need to curb government growth, wasteful spending and higher taxation?
Nope.
Why even bother having an official issues committee if you're not going to address any? Why bother having a public relations committee if you're not going to publicly relate?
Heck, you didn't even hear the leadership of the Johnson County Republican Central Committee publicly talk about the successes the GOP enjoyed in the November elections at the state and federal levels. The group is hibernating, there are local issues out there needing an official GOP voice/response - not happening - and the local liberals are having their way on those issues. There is no counter-balance being offered by the JCRCC.
What I said back in December: http://coralvillecourier.typepad.com/community/2010/12/johnson-county-republican-central-committee-report-players-content-to-watch-politics-on-tv.html
Truth hurts folks, the JCRCC isn't getting it done. The group is going to have their next obligatory monthly meeting on the first Monday in February. Nothing more than a social hour, the group will talk about having their annual spaghetti dinner and who they can get to be the Keynote Speaker for it. After that discussion the group will consider their political contribution being made, with no real local party growth, issue stance, public education, or candidate recruitment getting done.
There is a REASON the folks from the Herman Cain for President Exploratory Committee contacted me about a future meet and greet event in the area and inquired about grassroots support development. They didn't contact the Johnson County Republican Central Committee, they contacted yours truly. Herman Cain will be seeking the Republican nomination for President, election 2012.
