In a 269 to 161 vote today, the House of Representatives passed a bill to raise the nation's debt ceiling.
Siding with 64 other common sense House Republicans and objecting to borrowing more money to fund continued and irresponsible excessive government spending, were Iowa Republicans Tom Latham (IA-4) and Steve King (IA-5).
Leadership sometimes means knowing how to say "NO." A BIG SINCERE THANK YOU TO KING AND LATHAM! They demonstrate no nonsense thinking and a desire to put this country back on the track of fiscal sanity.
Then there's Iowa's liberal idiots......
Voting no only because they want to keep spending at unprecedented levels and because they support tax hikes to cover that uncontrolled spending, (to their disappointment, the bill didn't include any tax hikes) were Iowa Democrats Bruce Braley (IA-1), Dave Loebsack (IA-2) and Leonard Boswell (IA-3). They WANT your kids and grandkids to fund today's liberal spending desires.
Liberal *leadership* statements on this issue include the following emotionally manipulative talking point class warfare b.s.:
"This legislation creates a system that protects special interests, hedge fund managers and Wall Street executives at the expense of the middle class, seniors and the most vulnerable. The last few weeks have been a classic example of Washington choosing politics over people and it is why I could not support it." ~ Dave Loebsack
Loebsack is flat out lying to you. Look at all the so-called inherently eeeeevvvvvviiiiiillllll rhetoric he spewed.... "special interests," "hedge fund managers," "Wall Street Executives" vs. "middle class," "seniors," "and the most vulnerable." The bill does nothing as he implies. The professor didn't provide any examples, didn't mention any specifics, he failed to offer/demonstrate any sort of logical argument. No, instead of voting no in the name of fiscal common sense, he tried to insert emotionally charged crap into your head with his falsely based statement...... The truth? Loebsack wants tax hikes to fund even more big government spending. He voted no today to appease his liberal voting base, not because it was the right thing to do.
In his statement, Bruce Braley patted himself on the back (so he thinks) pulling out the tired, old, lame and flat out bogus the Bush tax cuts cost money argument, pretending his action is a record worth noting: He opposed the Bush tax cuts, which have already cost over $1.8 trillion dollars. And last December he opposed the extension of President Bush's tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans. By not ending tax cuts for the wealthiest, we will spend another $700 billion over the next decade.
Are you seeing a theme here? Like Loebsack, Braley goes low road with class warfare. Look at his repeated use of the liberal flag phrase of "wealthiest Americans." Never mind that the "wealthiest Americans" already pay the lion's share of the country's bills. Never mind that tax cuts don't actually "cost" money, truth is liberals don't like tax cuts because it means a smaller pool of THE PEOPLE's money they can blow. Never mind that taking every last dime from the "wealthiest Americans" doesn't even begin to pay down the debt Washington idiots have burdened this country with. The answer to this country's fiscal woes is CUTTING SPENDING, not raising taxes.
"I have said from the beginning of this process that there must be shared sacrifice when it comes to reducing the deficit. We are all Americans, and we should all pitch in and pay our fair share. The deal brought forth today unfortunately continues to pass the buck on making the difficult and balanced decisions needed to restore some sense of fiscal sanity to Washington. The way the process is set up cannot guarantee a balanced approach moving forward, and continues to hold middle-class Americans hostage for the sake of preserving tax cuts for Big Oil and hedge fund managers that pay lower taxes than their secretaries." ~ Leonard Boswell
More liberal nonsense, Boswell and his "shared sacrifice," disgusting use of "hold middle-class Americans hostage," "Big Oil" and a feigned desire to reduce the deficit..... What a hypocrite.
All of Iowa's liberal congressmen have a voting record of spend, spend, spend, they voted for the Obama/Reid/Pelosi spending agenda without hesitation.... Now that the country spoke out loudly last November against excessive spending and the obese size of government, these guys are pretending to move back to the center of the political spectrum so they can get re-elected.
They're not about doing what's right, they're about themselves.
