Newt won the South Carolina Primary last night in very convincing fashion.
Check out how the left is trying to spin this....
Salon.com Headline:
The GOP’s South Carolina nightmare
Subheadline:
Newt Gingrich just made life miserable for Mitt Romney – and for his party
Here's a snippet from the daily kos:
...but it turns out South Carolina specifically wanted a jerk, the meanest, nastiest guy on stage.
Here's a bit from Politico in a piece called, Newt Gingrich is Angry:
ORANGEBURG, S.C. - - Newt Gingrich trundles into the meeting hall - - a former X-rated movie theater - - to rapturous applause.
He is not the best-looking guy in Republican race or the best-funded or the most ideologically pure. But he has found his shtick, and he is shticking to it.
Newt Gingrich is the angriest man in America.
Now why do you suppose the Politico inserted the 'former X-rated movie theater' line in there? Do you see where this is going folks? Newt is a mean, nasty man.... Newt is turning the Republican party into a nasty mess.... Newt is nasty, therefore the entire Republican party must be nasty.... This is that classic liberal angle of Democrats are all nice and tolerant and Republicans aren't. Like I've always told you, liberals are very good at falsely accusing Republicans of doing things liberals themselves are guilty of practicing/doing. See that word "shtick" in the Politco blurb above? That's what this is, liberal shtick.
Now as regular readers know, I'm not a Newt fan. My horse in this race is Rick Santorum. But what I'm seeing coming from the left has to be pointed out. Liberals are guilty of being the mean, intolerant, nasty party, and yet they're falsely trying to paint a Republican party that gave Newt Gingrich a big victory in South Carolina as a mean streak exposed..... Would you look at that, see, the Republican party is nasty!
Liberals aren't reporting news here, they're manufacturing it.
You'll be seeing the liberal pundits use this kind of rhetoric on all the talking head shows now leading up to the first Florida debate in Tampa on Monday night. If Newt has another South Carolina-like debate performance, you'll see this line of narrative kicked up another notch and become more shrill, that Newt is nasty and the party likes his nastiness.
Why? It's the setup. It fits the liberal shtick. Liberals think they're appealing to Independent voters with this and it works to rally the Democrat base as well. Liberals would love to see Gingrich win the GOP nomination because they want to paint Newt as a mean and nasty man in the general election. Tearing Newt down somehow props Obama up (after all, Obama can't run on his record). And if Newt is the GOP's pick, then that must mean that the Republican party is mean and nasty..... Tearing the Republican party down, somehow props the Democrat party up.
It's not about the truth mind you, it's about the narrative.
Liberals, accusing Republicans of doing the very things liberals themselves are guilty of.... It shouldn't surprise anyone anymore, it's what they do.
The left is trying to dictate the GOP narrative. Don't let them.

Your analysis is “spot on”. You have the liberals nailed once again.
As for Newt, I am not a Newt fan either. He would be my fourth choice of the four remaining candidates. However, there are multiple reasons for this and none of them deal with nastiness or the lack of.
I really feel that Newt is the least conservative of all four candidates, even Romney. Oh he has all the words and phrases down pat. However, I usually try to follow the actions rather than the words and Newt’s actions have really not been all that conservative. After all, what conservative would ever call FDR the greatest president of the 20th century? If that wasn’t enough to convince you that Newt is not all that conservative you can toss in support for; global warming, Medicare prescription drug benefit, healthcare mandate, cap and trade, government subsidies for ethanol and then his opposition to Paul Ryan’s recent proposal to fix entitlements.
And while Newt would be a million times better than Obama, I am certainly hoping for one of the other three candidates to receive the Republican nomination. I think they are all more conservative than Newt and probably with better skill sets and experience. Yes, Newt is by far the best debater. However, there are probably a dozen skills more critical than debating skills and I think the other candidates are stronger in these more critical skill areas.
