Your favorite progressive blog is at it again, this time it's making things up about the Republican position on Medicare. The post author is Paul Deaton, a man I contend, is incapable of giving the general public - let alone a person challenging him on his point of view - a straight answer.
When you read the misinformation, note the flag words and inflammatory language like 'eliminate,' 'scheme,' 'political calculation' and 'pits young against old.' Such language is designed to fire up the two or three progressives that read Blog for Iowa. It's emotionally charged nonsense, void of any real substance. This is what progressives do because they don't have the truth on their side. Deaton doesn't like to write with any substance, because that would require factual reference. And all those flag words I mentioned? Deaton is coming straight from the progressive playbook, make false claims against the opponent, of doing the very things you (Deaton) are doing.
Facts be damned! Say and do anything to keep our Big Government entitlement!
Read the above again, Deaton is the one who is scheming; Deaton is making a political calculation; it's Deaton who is playing generation warfare pitting, young against old.
Here's the thing....... Deaton is playing the fear mongering card on a GOP proposal, an idea that's been put on the table. Where's the Democrat proposal? There isn't one. They're not taking the unsustainable entitlement seriously. Democrats don't want to change anything, they're pretending there isn't a problem. Deaton ignores the fact that people are living longer, that the program as it stands right now is unsustainable. Does the Ryan plan have flaws? Yes, but remember, it's a proposal, something the Democrats haven't offered.
Does Deaton honestly assess the Ryan plan and offer alternatives to what he doesn't like?
No, that would require some thinking. That's not something Paul Deaton or Blog for Iowa are really interested in.
Here's an HONEST assessment of the Ryan plan: http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/06/ok_just_what_is_the_ryan_medicare_plan.html
