UI helps in detective work to identify nasty bug | Iowa City Press Citizen

The University of Iowa’s State Hygienic Laboratory is playing a crucial role in the statewide cyclospora outbreak: identifying the elusive parasite.

The latest data shows 25 cases of the intestinal illness in Iowa so far, which does not include additional cases that may have been reported to the Iowa Department of Public Health on Tuesday night. Health officials say they believe the illness was spread from contaminated produce, and they’re currently trying to nail down a specific source.
