Cubs blanked by Dodgers for 2nd straight day

The unproductive Cubs offense performed like blankety-blanks the last two games.

For the second straight day, the Cubs were blanked by the Dodgers, losing 1-0 Sunday to right-hander Stephen Fife, who was a late replacement for scheduled starter Zack Greinke.

The Dodgers eked out just two hits off Cubs starter Carlos Villanueva (2-8) before relievers James Russell and Pedro Strop shut them down, yet managed to extend their road winning streak to a club-record 14 games. The Cubs stranded nine runners and finished the homestand 1-7.
