WATERLOO | Waterloo tied a record low for this date this morning when the air temperature hit 21 degrees below zero shortly before 4 a.m. at the Waterloo Regional Airport, the National Weather Service reported.
That record was set in 1904. By 5 a.m. some clouds rolled in and the actual air temperature warmed to 12 below zero. However, winds picked up and the wind chill dropped to 25 below zero. Winds had been calm when the record-tying low was set.
