You don't need a big city to have a great museum, you'll find some great exhibits right here in the corridor! 

Old schoolhouse1876 Coralville Schoolhouse Museum310 Fifth St., Coralville.  This restored 1876 schoolhouse contains interactive exhibits, hands-on activities for children. Costumed guides will present tours by appointment.  This two room red brick schoolhouse served the children of the Coralville from 1876 until 1951. Come and visit and experience what it was like to have all ages of children learning in the same room, in less than modern surroundings, and yet, the education was excellent and lead to the establishment of the school buildings you see today.  Hours: By Appointment ONLY.  Phone:  319-351-5738.

Anique Car MuseumAntique Car Museum of Iowa - 860 Quarry Rd (Iowa River Landing), Coralville.Founded in 2006, the Antique Car Museum of Iowa prides itself in educating visitors on the history of transportation. Our 28,000 square foot showroom features 90+ cars ranging from year 1899 to the mid 1970’s, along with an early 20th century Skelly gas station, and an exhibit featuring the Abernathy Boys. Many of our antique cars are in their original clothes and are untouched by modern day techniques—it’s a rare pleasure to view these historic cars in their genuine state!

Iowa Childrens MuseumThe Iowa Children’s Museum features outstanding exhibits in a 28,000 square foot active learning playground rich with unique hands-on educational components that promote the active exploration, problem solving, and discovery that lead to learning.  Most importantly, the act of play is respected and valued by museum staff and volunteers as a critical aspect of childhood that leads to healthy, happy adults.  Located in the Coral Ridge Mall.

Johnson County Historical SocietyThe Johnson County Historical Society Museum provides a permanent home to the society’s treasure trove of more than 10,000 historic artifacts that portray the diverse and vibrant heritage of the county, from Native Americans to early settlers to contemporary times.  The Historical Society was organized in 1967 as the Mormon Trek Memorial Foundation with the purpose of commemorating the Mormon Handcart Expeditions.  These expeditions departed Johnson County for Salt Lake City in 1856 and 1857.  Location: 860 Quarry Road, Coralville.  Hours: Tuesday-Saturday: 10 am- 5 pm Sunday: Noon-5pm.  Phone: (319) 351-5738. All of our exhibits build skills that correlate to one or more of our five educational initiatives.  Our exhibits focus on Arts & Culture, Financial Literacy, Healthy Kids, School Readiness, and STEM.
