There are some great schools in the corridor, pre-school, K-12, public, private and of course, higher education. All corridor communities can boast about having some of the best K-12 schools in the state. Higher education opportunities are excellent in the corridor as well, with a number of great schools to choose from.
Public Schools K-12
Cedar Rapids School District - The Cedar Rapids Community School District has the second largest enrollment in the State of Iowa. The District's AK through grade 12 grade program currently serves 16,157 students in 21 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, and 4 high schools. We also have various alternative schools. Clear Creek Amana Community School District - The school district encompasses the towns of Tiffin (population 1,947), Oxford (population 807), and the seven villages of the historic Amana Colonies (population 1,600). Iowa City Community School District - The district has over 12,000 students and serves the communities of Iowa City, Coralville, Hills, North Liberty, University Heights and the surrounding rural areas. Lone Tree School District - Lone Tree schools has over 450 students in our PK-12 building. Our goal is to provide daily a fantastic learning environment and extracurricular programs that excel statewide. Our graduates have excelled in their post-secondary endeavors and continue to be the lifeblood of our community.
Solon Community School District - The Solon Community School District is a progressive district located between the more urban centers of Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. Within the district are the city of Solon and many housing developments around Lake McBride and the Coralville Reservoir. The Solon Community School District has a current enrollment of 1,235 students in three attendance centers, one elementary school (PK-4), one middle school (5-8) and one high school (9-12).
West Branch Community School District - As a PK-12 public school system of approximately 800 students, the West Branch Community School District’s core goal is to provide unsurpassed instructional and extracurricular programming excellence. We have a reputation of producing graduates with the capacity to be highly successful in post-secondary educational settings, as well as being life-long learners and positive contributors to their communities!
Private/Independent Schools
Heritage Christian School is a Pre-K through 8th grade inter-denominational Christian school. Hillside Christian School - We have been meeting the need for excellent Christian education in Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty and the surrounding area for over 30 years. Iowa Mennonite School - Iowa Mennonite School, in partnership with the family and the church, offers high school students an academically excellent, Christ-centered education rooted in an Anabaptist perspective. The Montessori School of Iowa City is a non-sectarian, private independent school. We are a 501(c)(3) organization governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. As one of the oldest Montessori schools on the continent, we celebrated our 50th birthday in 2012. We are an Associate School Member of the American Montessori Society. Willowwind School - Imagine a classroom where children are engaged in animated discussions, where multi-age groups work together to create a science project, where partners interview each other for a writing assignment, where learning takes place outside of the building as well as inside. Higher Education
Coe College - Cedar Rapids. Coe College is a selective, private, nationally recognized four-year coeducational liberal arts institution providing superior educational experiences for students since 1851. Coe's residential campus is located in Cedar Rapids - Iowa's second largest city - and only hours from several major cities like Chicago, Minneapolis, Omaha, and St. Louis. The 1,400 students enrolled at Coe make up a diverse population, representing more than 33 states and over 15 foreign countries.
Cornell College - Mt. Vernon. With the distinctive One Course At A Time curriculum, Cornell students immerse themselves in just one academic discipline per three-and-a-half-week block. This focus makes it possible for professors to go beyond the traditional lecture format through extended discussions and labs, all day simulations, and off-campus learning for an afternoon or an entire block without competing with other classes. And students can easily take a block to gain experience through internships.
Kirkwood Community College - Cedar Rapids. At Kirkwood Community College, we are focused on success. Since the mid-1960s our graduates have worked, raised families and prospered in this area. More than 70,000 of these grads have applied their academic degrees to work in a host of fields. Mount Mercy University - Cedar Rapids. Since its founding 85 years ago by the Sisters of Mercy, Mount Mercy has been many things: a girls' academy for training young teachers and nurses, a two-year college for women, a four-year coed liberal arts college, and now a full university.
